Norm Macdonald

Norm Macdonald (1959–2021) was a Canadian stand-up comedian, writer, and actor known for his deadpan delivery and sharp, often subversive humor. Born in Quebec City and raised in Ottawa, he began performing comedy in Canada before moving to the United States. He gained wide recognition as a cast member on *Saturday Night Live* (1993–1998), where he anchored “Weekend Update.” Macdonald later co-created and starred in the sitcom *The Norm Show* (1999–2001). His film roles included *Dirty Work* (1998) and *Screwed* (2000), and he voiced Death in *Family Guy*. He also hosted *Norm Macdonald Live* and wrote the memoir *Based on a True Story* (2016).
