Norman Vincent Peale
Norman Vincent Peale was born in Bowersville, Ohio in 1898. Peale was raised as a Methodist and ordained as a Methodist minister in 1922; however, in 1932, he changed his religious affiliation to the Reformed Church in America and began a 52-year ministry at Marble Collegiate Church in Manhattan, becoming one of NYC’s most famous preachers. In 1952, Peale published the bestselling book The Power of Positive Thinking, which came under heavy criticism from the psychiatric community. He also wrote many other motivational books. Additionally, Peale had a radio program called “The Art of Living,” which ran for 54 years. Peale is a co-founder of the Horatio Alger Association.
