Orrin Hatch

Orrin G. Hatch (1934–2022) was an American politician who served as a United States Senator from Utah from 1977 to 2019. A Republican, he became one of the longest-serving senators in U.S. history and held several senior leadership roles, including President pro tempore of the Senate (2015–2019). Hatch chaired major committees such as the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Senate Finance Committee, shaping legislation on judicial nominations, taxes, health policy, and trade. Before entering national politics, he practiced law and served as an assistant attorney general in Utah. He died in 2022.
