Osborn H. Oldroyd

Osborn H. Oldroyd (c. 1830–1910) was an American Civil War veteran and an early collector of Abraham Lincoln memorabilia. After the war, he devoted himself to preserving and interpreting Lincoln’s life through artifacts, documents, and personal recollections. Oldroyd is best known as the first custodian of the Lincoln Home in Springfield, Illinois, where he helped establish the site as a place of public memory and education. He also wrote and compiled works about Lincoln, including *The Lincoln Memorial: Album-Immortelles* (1882), which reflected his lifelong effort to gather, organize, and share materials connected to the sixteenth president.
