Oscar Ameringer

Oscar Ameringer was born in Achstetten, Germany in 1870. He moved to America at age 15 and soon started working for a union newspaper in Columbus, Ohio. Ameringer eventually moved to Oklahoma to work for the Socialist party, where he was a prominent party organizer and editor of the party newspaper. In 1913, Ameringer moved to Wisconsin, where he worked for the Socialist Party of Milwaukee County. In 1931, Ameringer returned to Oklahoma and founded the newspaper American Guardian. Ameringer also wrote the famous satire of American history, The Life and Deeds of Uncle Sam.
