Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse (1881–1975) was an English author celebrated for his comic novels, short stories, and lyrics. Born in Guildford, Surrey, he was educated at Dulwich College and began his career as a journalist before turning to fiction. Wodehouse created some of literature’s most enduring humorous characters, notably the valet Jeeves and his employer Bertie Wooster, and the eccentric inhabitants of Blandings Castle, including Lord Emsworth and the Empress of Blandings. His writing is known for intricate plotting, buoyant dialogue, and inventive language. He spent much of his later life in the United States and was knighted in 1975.
