Pat Schroeder

Patricia Scott “Pat” Schroeder (1940–2023) was an American politician and author. A member of the Democratic Party, she represented Colorado in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1973 to 1997. During her 24 years in Congress, she became known for her work on national defense issues and for advocacy on behalf of women and families. After leaving elected office, Schroeder served as president and CEO of the Association of American Publishers. She also wrote books reflecting on public life and policy. Schroeder’s career spanned government and publishing, linking legislative experience with leadership in the literary and information industries.
