Pete Rose
Pete Rose (1941–2024) was an American professional baseball player and manager, best known as Major League Baseball’s all-time hits leader. Nicknamed “Charlie Hustle” for his relentless style of play, he starred primarily with the Cincinnati Reds and also played for the Philadelphia Phillies and Montreal Expos. A switch-hitter, Rose was a central figure in the Reds’ championship era of the 1970s and later managed Cincinnati. His career achievements on the field were later overshadowed by controversy: MLB permanently banned him in 1989 after an investigation concluded he had bet on baseball games. Rose remained one of the sport’s most debated figures.
