Ramsey Clark

Ramsey Clark (1927–2021) was an American lawyer and public official. He served in the U.S. Department of Justice during the Kennedy and Johnson administrations and became U.S. Attorney General under President Lyndon B. Johnson (1967–1969). As attorney general, he supported major civil rights initiatives, including enforcement of federal voting rights protections, and oversaw the Justice Department during a period of urban unrest and high-profile prosecutions. After leaving office, Clark returned to private practice and became known for his outspoken positions on U.S. foreign policy and civil liberties. He died in 2021.
