Ray Stannard Baker (David Grayson)
Ray Stannard Baker (1870–1946) was an American journalist and author associated with the Progressive Era’s “muckraking” tradition. Born in Lansing, Michigan, he reported for major newspapers and magazines and became known for investigative writing on labor, race relations, and politics. Baker wrote influential nonfiction, including *Following the Color Line* (1908) and *The New Industrial Unrest* (1913). He also served as a close observer of national and international affairs, later publishing a multi-volume biography of Woodrow Wilson. In addition to his reportage, Baker wrote reflective essays and rural sketches under the pseudonym David Grayson, reaching a wide popular audience.
