Richard Dawkins
Richard Dawkins (born 1941) is a British evolutionary biologist, ethologist, and popular science writer. He studied zoology at Balliol College, Oxford, and later taught at the University of California, Berkeley. Dawkins returned to Oxford as a lecturer in zoology and became widely known for his 1976 book *The Selfish Gene*, which popularized a gene-centered view of evolution and introduced the term “meme.” He has written several other books on evolution and science, including *The Blind Watchmaker*. Dawkins is also a prominent public advocate of atheism and secularism, notably through *The God Delusion*.
