Richard L. Evans
Richard Louis Evans was born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1906. He attended the University of Utah, where he joined Pi Kappa Alpha and obtained his BA and MA. In 1929, Evans became the writer, producer, and announcer for Music and the Spoken Word, a weekly Mormon Tabernacle Choir radio broadcast. Evans would continue this broadcast for 41 years, until his death in 1971. In 1953, following the death of Albert E. Bowen, Evans became a member of the LDS Church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Additionally, from 1966 to 1967, Evans served as the president of Rotary International. His voice was also known to Latter-day Saints as the narrator of assorted church productions.
