Richard Lamm
Richard D. Lamm (1935–2019) was an American politician and author best known for serving three terms as Governor of Colorado. A member of the Democratic Party, he was elected governor in 1974 and served from 1975 to 1987, becoming one of the state’s longest-serving governors. Lamm first gained statewide attention as a leader in Colorado’s environmental movement, including efforts that helped stop the 1976 Winter Olympics from being held in the state. After leaving office, he continued to write and speak on public policy, ethics, and governance, and remained a prominent voice in debates about the future of American society.
