Richard Wilkinson

Richard G. Wilkinson (born 1943) is a British epidemiologist and social scientist whose work examines how income distribution relates to population health. He has held research and academic posts in the United Kingdom and has been associated with the University of Nottingham. Wilkinson is widely known for co-authoring *The Spirit Level* (2009) with Kate Pickett, a book arguing that more unequal societies tend to experience worse health and social outcomes across many measures. His research has contributed to public debates on social determinants of health, inequality, and policy. He has also written extensively in academic and public-facing venues on these themes.
