Robert A. M. Stern

Robert A. M. Stern (born 1939) is an American architect, architectural historian, and academic. He is the founder of Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA), a New York–based firm known for major residential and institutional projects. Stern served as Dean of the Yale School of Architecture, where he also taught and helped shape architectural education and discourse. In addition to practice, he has written and edited works on architectural history and urbanism, contributing to scholarship on American architecture. Across his career, Stern has been associated with postmodern and traditional design approaches, combining historical reference with contemporary building programs and technologies.
