Quotes
Robert Browning
Robert Browning, born in South London, England in 1812, was educated at home using the resources of his wealthy father’s extensive library. Browning became enamored of poetry at a young age, and at age 12, he wrote a book of poetry, which he later destroyed. Some of Browning’s first published works included the Pauline, a fragment of a confession, Paracelsus, Strafford, and Sordello. In 1845, Browning met the poet Elizabeth Barrett, and the two married and moved to Italy in 1846. In the subsequent two decades, Browning produced most of his major works, including the poetry collection Men and Women and the long blank-verse poem, The Ring and the Book.
