Robert Collyer

Robert Collyer (1823–1912) was an English-born American Unitarian minister, lecturer, and author. Born in Keighley, Yorkshire, he trained as a blacksmith before emigrating to the United States in 1849. Collyer became a prominent voice in liberal religion and public life, serving congregations in the Midwest and later in New York City, where he was minister of the Church of the Messiah. Celebrated for his eloquence and accessible style, he was a sought-after speaker on religion, ethics, and culture. His books include *Nature and Life* and *A History of the Town of Amesbury*.
