Robert Goheen

Robert F. Goheen (1919–2008) was an American academic administrator and diplomat. He served as President of Princeton University from 1957 to 1972, guiding the institution through a period of significant change in American higher education. After his Princeton presidency, he entered public service and was appointed U.S. Ambassador to India, serving from 1977 to 1980. Goheen was known for bridging academic leadership and international diplomacy, representing the United States abroad after a prominent career in university administration. His work placed him at the intersection of education, public policy, and U.S.–India relations in the late twentieth century.
