Robertson Davies

Robertson Davies grew up in Thamesville, Ontario reading everything he could get his hands on. After attending colleges in Ontario and receiving a BLitt degree from Balliol College, Oxford, Davies started an acting career in London. Davies then returned to Canada, where he worked as an editor, also writing plays, essays, and novels. In the 1960s and ‘70s, Davies taught literature and continued to write popular novels, becoming one of Canada’s bestselling authors. He retired from teaching in the ‘80s and continued to publish until his death in 1995. Davies is best known for his Deptford Trilogy, which included the famous book Fifth Business.
