Rod Stewart
Rod Stewart was born in London, England in 1945. As a young man, he was interested in music and football. Although he originally wanted to become a professional footballer, Stewart’s career as a vocalist and songwriter took off in the 1960s and 1970s with The Jeff Beck Group and Faces. Stewart launched his solo career in 1969, and he became a household name in 1971 with the hit “Maggie May.” His career hit a relative slump in the early 1980s, but was revived by the 1988 album Out of Order, and later by The Great American Songbook series, released in the 2000s. By 2002, Stewart had sold in excess of 100 million records, and he continues to write and perform music today.
