Roger Babson

Roger Ward Babson (1875–1967) was an American entrepreneur and business theorist best known for pioneering market analysis and for founding Babson College. Trained as an engineer, he worked in business and finance before establishing a statistical and advisory enterprise that produced *Babson’s Reports*, widely read for their economic commentary and forecasts. Babson promoted the use of data and long-run trends in studying markets and business cycles, and he became a prominent public voice on economic conditions in the early twentieth century. He also created educational institutions, including Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, to advance practical business education.
