Ronald Reagan
Ronald Reagan was born in Tampico, Illinois in 1911. In school, he excelled in sports and acting and garnered a reputation as a “jack of all trades.” After graduating college, Reagan became an announcer for the Chicago Cubs, and while traveling with the Cubs in California, he took a screen test that led to a contract with Warner Brothers. His most notable role as an actor was 1942’s Kings Row. Reagan later entered politics, and in 1967, became the 33rd Governor of California. In 1981, Reagan became the 40th President of the United States, after defeating the Democratic incumbent Jimmy Carter. Reagan served two terms, leaving office in 1989. Reagan died in 2004 of pneumonia, complicated by Alzheimer’s disease.
