Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy (1890–1995) was an American philanthropist and the matriarch of the Kennedy political family. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of John F. “Honey Fitz” Fitzgerald, a prominent Massachusetts politician and former mayor of Boston. In 1914 she married Joseph P. Kennedy Sr., and together they had nine children, including President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and Senator Edward M. Kennedy. Known for her public advocacy and charitable work, she supported causes related to education and people with intellectual disabilities.
