Rosemonde Gerard

Rosemonde Gérard (1871–1953) was a French poet and playwright, celebrated for her love poetry. She gained wide recognition for the poem “L’Éternelle Chanson,” which includes the line “Car, vois-tu, chaque jour je t’aime davantage,” often quoted for its enduring romantic sentiment. Gérard published several volumes of verse and also wrote for the stage, contributing to France’s literary life in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. She married the playwright Edmond Rostand, author of *Cyrano de Bergerac*, and their relationship became part of her public identity. Her work remains associated with lyrical elegance and emotional clarity.
