Ruby Wax

Ruby Wax (born 19 April 1953) is an American-born British comedian, actress, writer, and mental health campaigner. Born in Evanston, Illinois, she studied at the University of California, Berkeley, and later trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Wax became widely known in the UK for her television work, including the BBC interview series *Ruby Wax Meets...*, and for appearances on comedy and entertainment programmes. She has written bestselling books that combine humour with discussions of mindfulness and mental health, including *Sane New World* and *A Mindfulness Guide for the Frazzled*. Wax is also known for public advocacy around depression and wellbeing.
