Scott Alexander

Scott Alexander is the pen name of Scott Siskind, an American psychiatrist and writer known for long-form essays on science, medicine, philosophy, and culture. Under this pseudonym, he created the influential blog *Slate Star Codex*, which ran through the 2010s and developed a large online readership, particularly within rationalist and effective altruist communities. After ending *Slate Star Codex*, he launched *Astral Codex Ten*, continuing a similar style of analytical blogging and commentary. His work is noted for detailed argumentation, extensive citations, and an interest in applying statistical and scientific reasoning to contentious public debates.
