Shirley MacLaine

Shirley MacLaine (born Shirley MacLean Beaty on April 24, 1934) is an American actress, singer, dancer, and author. She began her career on Broadway and became a major film star in the late 1950s and 1960s. Her notable films include *The Apartment* (1960), *Irma la Douce* (1963), *Terms of Endearment* (1983), and *Steel Magnolias* (1989). MacLaine won the Academy Award for Best Actress for *Terms of Endearment* and has received multiple Golden Globe Awards. She is also known for bestselling memoirs and spiritual nonfiction, including *Out on a Limb* (1983).
