Sholem Aleichem
Sholem Aleichem was the pen name of Solomon Naumovich Rabinovich (1859–1916), a Jewish writer and humorist who wrote primarily in Yiddish. Born in the Russian Empire, he became one of the most widely read Yiddish authors of his time, celebrated for blending comedy with sharp social observation. He is best known for the Tevye the Dairyman stories, which portray the struggles, faith, and wit of a poor milkman and his family amid changing Jewish life in Eastern Europe.
