Sinbad

Sinbad is a legendary fictional sailor from Middle Eastern frame-tale tradition, best known from “The Seven Voyages of Sinbad” as transmitted in versions of *One Thousand and One Nights* (*Arabian Nights*). In these adventure tales, Sinbad is a wealthy merchant-seafarer whose journeys lead to shipwrecks, monsters, strange islands, and improbable escapes, reflecting the story cycle’s blend of folklore, travel fantasy, and moral fortune. Sinbad is not a historical author, but a character whose stories were shaped by anonymous storytellers and later translators and editors. Separately, “Sinbad” is the stage name of American comedian David Adkins.
