Sir Thomas Malory

Sir Thomas Malory (c. 1415–1471) was an English writer best known for *Le Morte d’Arthur*, a major prose romance of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Little about his life is securely documented, and his identity has been debated, but he is generally associated with a 15th-century English knight. Malory compiled and adapted French and English Arthurian sources into a connected narrative, shaping episodes such as the quest for the Holy Grail and the tragic fall of Arthur’s realm. His work was first printed by William Caxton in 1485 and became foundational to later Arthurian literature.
