Stephen Chbosky

Stephen Chbosky (born January 25, 1970) is an American novelist, screenwriter, and film director. He is best known for his coming-of-age novel *The Perks of Being a Wallflower* (1999), which became a widely read modern classic. Chbosky wrote and directed the 2012 film adaptation, also serving as screenwriter. His other novels include *Imaginary Friend* (2019). In film, he co-wrote the musical drama *Rent* (2005) and directed *Wonder* (2017), adapted from R.J. Palacio’s novel, as well as *Dear Evan Hansen* (2021). His work often explores adolescence, trauma, friendship, and empathy.
