Stephen Leacock
Stephen Leacock (1869–1944) was a Canadian writer, humorist, and political economist whose satirical sketches helped shape modern Canadian literature. Born in England, he was raised in Canada and later became a professor of political economy at McGill University in Montreal. Leacock gained wide popularity for his gently ironic portrayals of small-town life and social pretensions, notably in *Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town* (1912). He also published the influential humor collection *Literary Lapses* (1910), along with many other essays, stories, and books on economics and politics.
