Steve Buyer

Stephen E. Buyer (born 1958) is an American politician and attorney who served as a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Indiana’s 4th district from 1993 to 2011. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Indiana University’s law school, he also served in the U.S. Army Reserve and worked as a prosecutor in Indiana. In Congress, Buyer was associated with defense and veterans’ issues and chaired the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee. After leaving office, he continued to appear in public-policy and political discussions, and his remarks are sometimes quoted in commentary on government, national security, and veterans’ affairs.
