Susan Ertz

Susan Ertz was born to American parents in England, and raised in both countries; settling in England as an adult. She began writing in her twenties, and published her first novel, Madame Claire, in 1923. She married a barrister, Major John McCrindle in 1932. Most of her novels were coming of age stories, about women raised in sheltered environments forced to deal with an outer world for which they were unprepared. She continued writing for most of her life, with her last book being published when she was past 80.
