Tallulah Bankhead

Tallulah Bankhead (1902–1968) was an American stage and film actress celebrated for her commanding voice, flamboyant wit, and high-profile celebrity persona. Born in Huntsville, Alabama, she began acting in New York in the early 1920s and soon became a major presence on both Broadway and London’s West End. Bankhead also appeared in Hollywood films, including Alfred Hitchcock’s *Lifeboat* (1944), and later reached new audiences as the star of the radio comedy *The Big Show*. Though not primarily an author, she left a lasting literary footprint through her candid memoir, *Tallulah: My Autobiography* (1952), and as the subject of numerous biographies.
