Theodor Adorno
Theodor W. Adorno (1903–1969) was a German philosopher, sociologist, musicologist, and critical theorist associated with the Frankfurt School. Born in Frankfurt am Main, he studied philosophy, sociology, psychology, and music, and completed a doctorate on Edmund Husserl. Adorno worked closely with Max Horkheimer at the Institute for Social Research and coauthored *Dialectic of Enlightenment* (1944). Fleeing Nazi Germany, he lived in the United States before returning to West Germany after World War II, where he became a leading public intellectual. His major works include *Minima Moralia* (1951) and *Negative Dialectics* (1966).
