Theodore White

Theodore White grew up in Boston’s Jewish ghetto. He was an excellent student and received a scholarship to Harvard University. White graduated from Harvard in 1938 with a degree in Chinese history and studies and was awarded a traveling fellowship. White ended up in Chongquing, China, where he became Time’s correspondent for China during the war. He also wrote two books about his time in China. In addition to his wartime reporting from China, White also became known for his Making the President book series, which analyzed the 1960, 1964, 1968, 1972, and 1980 U.S. presidential elections.
