Theodosia Garrison

Theodosia Garrison (1874–1944) was an American writer and translator known for English-language retellings of East Asian folklore and literature, especially from Japan. She produced popular collections that introduced Western readers to traditional tales, including *The Japanese Fairy Book* and *The Chinese Fairy Book*. Working in the early twentieth century, Garrison adapted stories from earlier sources and helped shape the period’s taste for “fairy book” anthologies and cross-cultural storytelling.
