Tom Petty
Tom Petty (1950–2017) was an American singer-songwriter and musician. He rose to prominence as the frontman of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, a rock band formed in the mid-1970s. With the group, Petty released influential albums including *Damn the Torpedoes* (1979) and *Full Moon Fever* (1989), and became known for songs such as “American Girl,” “Refugee,” and “Free Fallin’.” He also co-founded the supergroup the Traveling Wilburys with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, and Jeff Lynne. Petty was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
