Tommy Smothers

Thomas Bolyn Smothers III (1937–2023), known as Tommy Smothers, was an American comedian, musician, and television personality. He rose to fame with his older brother Dick as half of the Smothers Brothers, blending folk music with sharp, satirical comedy. The duo became nationally prominent through recordings and live performances before starring in the CBS variety series *The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour* (1967–1969), which Tommy co-hosted and helped shape creatively. The show won an Emmy Award and was noted for its topical humor and clashes with network censors during the Vietnam War era. Smothers later continued performing and appearing on television and stage.
