Tony Galento
Tony Galento (1910–1979) was an American heavyweight boxer best known by the nickname “Two Ton” Tony Galento. Born in Orange, New Jersey, he became a popular, colorful figure in 1930s boxing, noted for his toughness and brawling style. Galento’s most famous bout came in 1939, when he challenged world heavyweight champion Joe Louis; he knocked Louis down in the third round before being stopped in the fourth. Outside the ring, Galento also appeared in films, including a role in *On the Waterfront* (1954). Though not a literary author, his larger-than-life persona has kept him a recurring name in boxing history.
