Uwe Boll

Uwe Boll (born 22 June 1965) is a German film director and producer. He is best known for directing film adaptations of video games, including *House of the Dead* (2003), *Alone in the Dark* (2005), and *BloodRayne* (2005). Boll has also directed other feature films across genres, such as the political drama *Rampage* (2009) and the historical drama *Darfur* (2009). Born in Wermelskirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia, he studied literature and economics before entering filmmaking. His work has attracted significant controversy and critical attention, making him a widely discussed figure in contemporary genre cinema.
