Vance Havner

Vance Havner (1901–1986) was an American Baptist preacher and evangelist noted for his plainspoken sermons and devotional writing. Born in North Carolina, he was ordained as a young man and became widely known through itinerant preaching across the United States. Havner served as pastor of several churches and later devoted much of his life to revival meetings and conference speaking. His messages emphasized personal conversion, spiritual renewal, and practical Christian discipleship, often delivered with wit and memorable aphorisms. He also wrote numerous books and pamphlets that extended his influence beyond the pulpit. Havner remained a prominent voice in mid‑20th‑century evangelical life until his death in 1986.
