Wade Davis

Wade Davis (born 1953) is a Canadian anthropologist, ethnobotanist, and author. He has conducted fieldwork in the Amazon and Andes and has written widely on Indigenous knowledge, cultural diversity, and the relationship between people and the natural world. Davis is a former National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence. His books include *The Serpent and the Rainbow* (1985), which draws on his research in Haiti, and *One River* (1996), a narrative of exploration and ethnobotany in the Amazon. He has also written essays and lectures on conservation, language loss, and the value of traditional cultures.
