Walt Mason

Walt Mason (1862–1939) was a Canadian-born American journalist and poet best known for his syndicated humorous verse column, “Rippling Rhymes.” Born in Ontario, he later moved to the United States and built a career in newspaper work, writing light, rhymed commentary on everyday life, politics, and public manners. His short, punchy poems—often moral, satirical, and conversational in tone—made him a widely read voice in early twentieth-century American journalism. Mason’s popularity rested on his ability to blend wit with plainspoken advice, turning current events and common frustrations into memorable, singable lines for a broad readership.
