Werner Finck

Werner Finck (1902–1978) was a German cabaret artist, comedian, actor, and writer. He became a prominent figure in Berlin’s cabaret scene in the early 1930s and was associated with the satirical ensemble Die Katakombe, whose performances drew the attention of Nazi authorities. Finck was arrested in 1935 and held for several weeks in the Esterwegen concentration camp. After his release he continued working under restrictions, later appearing in film and on stage. Following World War II, he resumed a successful career in West German entertainment, known for wordplay and pointed, understated satire. He died in Munich in 1978.
