Wilbur D. Nesbit

Wilbur Dick Nesbit (1871–1927) was an American poet and writer associated with Chicago journalism. He is best known for the poem “The Trail to Boyland,” a nostalgic celebration of childhood that became his signature work. Nesbit also wrote widely for newspapers, working as a columnist in Chicago and contributing verse and prose to the city’s lively print culture. His writing often blended humor, sentiment, and everyday observation, reflecting the tastes of early twentieth-century readers. Remembered chiefly for his popular poem and his newspaper work, Nesbit remains a representative voice of his era’s magazine and column poetry.
