Willard Christopher “Will” Smith, Jr. grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After graduating high school, Smith formed a hip-hop duo with childhood friend Jeffrey Townes called DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. While achieving modest success with songs like “Parents Just Don’t Understand,” Smith was fined by the IRS for underpaying his income taxes, and had virtually no money when he landed the spot on the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in 1990. The show launched a successful acting career for Smith that would include 20 films grossing $6.26 billion at the box office, and two Best Actor Oscar nominations. Smith is married to Jada Pinkett Smith and has three children.
