William J. Clinton

William Jefferson Clinton (born 1946) is an American politician and author who served as the 42nd President of the United States (1993–2001). A member of the Democratic Party, he was previously Governor of Arkansas (1979–1981; 1983–1992) and Arkansas Attorney General (1977–1979). Clinton’s presidency is noted for economic growth in the 1990s and for major political conflict, including his impeachment by the House of Representatives in 1998 and acquittal by the Senate in 1999. After leaving office, he founded the Clinton Foundation and remained active in public life. He wrote the memoir *My Life* (2004).
