Quotes
Winston Churchill
Sir Winston Churchill was born into an aristocratic family and held government positions for the majority of his adult life. Churchill served during WWI as First Lord of the Admiralty. After the war, the conservative Churchill served as Chancellor of the Exchequer. During WWII, Churchill again served as First Lord of the Admiralty, until he became Prime Minister after Neville Chamberlain resigned in 1940. As PM, Churchill was noted for his wartime radio broadcasts and speeches, which helped rally the national spirit, and his active opposition to Hitler helped secure Allied victory over Nazi Germany. The Conservative Party lost the 1945 election, but after winning the 1951 election, Churchill became Prime Minister again before retiring in 1955.
